In my classroom I start the day off with a morning greeting circle. We each have a turn at giving a one word ‘check in’ to express our feelings. This is a strategy I learnt from the Berry Street Model which our school is currently implementing. It’s a fantastic way to gage the feelings of your students which will enlighten you whether they are in a ‘ready to learn’ state of mind.
Having grade 2 however they were struggling with vocabulary choices to express their current feeling. After many many many “happy” and “excited” I decided I needed a feelings vocab chart set.
So here it is! The kids are loving learning new words and the glittery charts look gorgeous.
